National Changhua Life Arts Center, previously under the title of “National Changhua Hall of Social Education”（NCHSE）, was founded in 1955. With an aim to expand social education in central Taiwan －including Taichung, Changhua, Nantou and Yunlin county areas－ Taiwan Provincial Government established NCHSE and administered it under its Education Department.
In 1997 NCHSE was re-administered from the Education Department to the Culture Affairs Department of Taiwan Provincial Government, which took charge of the cultural affairs around Taiwan. In 1998 Taiwan Provincial Government was re-organized by the Central Government and NCHSE was supervised by the Ministry of Education temporarily. In addition to expand social education, we were assigned more jobs as well at this time.
In 2008 NCHSE got its present title and was affiliated to Council of Cultural Affairs simultaneously. Our responsibilities include not only social education but also cultural affairs. By cultivating aesthetic consciousness and values in people’s minds and practicing it in their daily lives, we are confident to reach our object“make aesthetics a part of daily life and turn living into a kind of art”.
